Totally didn't expect this today...

went in for an ultrasound to check on a cyst that I have.  They wanted to make sure it was getting smaller, instead of larger.  It was.  But while we were there, the ultrasound tech says, "OH, let's do the anatomy scan too, while we're in here."

Everything looks perfect. The tech was wonderful, pointing out and explaining every blip and dot on the screen.

Cut to add drama...Collapse )

We are having a....

well we went into the doctor's yesterday for a normal check-up (i'm only 16weeks as of yesterday) and they brought out the heart doppler.  the baby was moving around so much they couldn't find the heartbeat so they made me go in for an ultrasound.

while in there (the baby's heartbeat was totally fine by the way!) she was ALREADY able to tell us what the baby is!  i was super surprised, wasn't counting on knowing that for another month or so!  so we are having ANOTHER boy!!  Oscar (my son, whose two) doesn't really get what's going on...i asked him if he wanted a little brother and he yelled out "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"  so he still has some major adjusting to do!

now we need a name.  my SO wanted a girl so badly he's a bit disappointed in this news, but is getting over it very quickly

so anyone have any name suggestions?  we need a name that goes with oscar.  my SO already said no to my choice, Emmett.  i already said no to HIS choice, Wilbur (WTF??), so we need our mind's opened up!!  :):)  we had a girl's name all picked out, Matilda, but of course we aren't using that one now (my SO was so sad by the news at first he said we should use it anyway :):)

so that's all, hope everyone's pregnancy is going well!  good luck everyone!

So I'm fifteen weeks today! Hooray second trimester, I'm finally MOSTLY over the morning sickness.

I am, however, craving chocolate chip cookies and beer like crazy.  At least I'm making the cookies now....the beer will have to wait!

Current symptoms: occasional morning sickness still, but at least it's in the morning only now.  Super dry skin on my face, along with random acne-like breakouts everywhere else.  Food cravings I already mentioned, but the only aversion I'm having is to fish and sometimes to sweet foods, especially in the morning.

I have an ultrasound scheduled on April 6th, but since my husband got laid off last Wednesday, I might have to reschedule it and/or find another doctor.  The ultrasound isn't even baby related...it's to check out a large cyst they noticed on my right ovary when we got my dating scan.  We did hear the heartbeat at the last visit, though.  A nice steady 160BPM, although the doctor had to chase the baby around with the dopplar to get it!

I'm not particularly thrilled with this set of OB/GYN.  So far I've met three doctors.  Only one of which I've liked at ALL.  One seemed clueless, the other seemed cold.  The one I met in between was the only one to take my previous pregnancy into consideration, and also seemed to understand my fertility issues.  The others seemed almost baffled as to why I was pregnant but couldn't even give them a guess as to how far along I was.  I'm sorry, I don't have anything resembling a regular cycle...that's what PCOS does to me!

I have a feeling it's a girl again.  If so, she'll be Sarah Katherine or Sarah Lynne/Lynnelle .  Boy will definitely be Johnathan Robert.

Anyone else feel like sharing?

How far along are you? 13 weeks.

What symptoms are you experiencing and how are you feeling in general? I seem to get randomly tired.  I have huge bursts of energy, then I crash, hard.  I'm also going through periods of severe nausea and then I'm completely starving.  Even worse, occasionally I'm both at the same time.  And OMG the boob pain.  Gas as well...I don't remember many of these symptoms from my first pregnancy.  I do remember the boob pain, though.

What's been happening recently with your prenatal care? I'm elevated risk, so they keep seeing me every two weeks.  That gets kind of old after a while.  We haven't heard the heartbeat yet, but we had a dating ultrasound a few weeks ago, so I'm not concerned.  The OB thinks Baby is hanging out behind my pubic bone.  I have an appointment one week from Monday to try again..if they can't find one, I'm going to go in for another ultrasound.

Last time, the doctors were terribly concerned about my weight.  I'm definitely in the plus-sized category.  This time, I weigh more, but they haven't brought it up even once.  In fact, they occasionally yell at me for not eating enough.  I'm going to try to stick to the "gain fifteen pounds" deal, only because I don't want to try to lose a ton of weight after the baby comes.

Anything big happening in your personal life (moving, work related, family, etc)? Too much.  My husband's company laid off about 50% of the staff.  He's in the remaining half, but they were all given a 20% pay cut.  If things don't turn around soon, he'll probably lose his job.  I can get insurance through my work, but it's not nearly as good of coverage, and I know already that I'd have to change OB/GYNs.  Actually, we'd probably qualify for welfare if we were just on my income...did that for the last baby, and while things turned out fine, it was a very stressful two months.  Apparently me getting pregnant makes us lose/quit jobs.

My mother also had surgery yesterday.  She had to have her hip replacement completely replaced.  There was an abcess that formed behind the bone because it started to wear funny.  Thankfully she seems to be doing fine.

Any questions you want to ask? Nope.
when I found out that I was pregnant, I looked for a community and it's taken awhile to come up, so I'm happy now! I work two jobs and volunteer a few hours a week, so I'm rather busy these days, with jobs and trying to get over the extra tiredness.

My husband and I have been trying to concieve since our first anniversary, 3.5 years ago. This summer, after much prompting, my husband had surgery to fix his vericose veins in his scrotum (called variocoseseels). There was a 60% chance that it was the cause of our fertility problems. When my husband went to his 4 month appointment to see if the surgery fixed the problem, we already knew that we were pregnant! The doctor confirmed that the surgery was a success and we were able to tell him we knew!

I am due on September 11th - which isn't very conveinent for me since I am a teacher and this is the end of the first week of school. But, at this point, I'll take anything, I mean, I'm finally pregnant!

Other household members  My SO brendan (warhammer extraordinaire, computer programmer, phish head geek), tom (my best buddy, fibers master, lover of men and bad reality tv)

hello all, i was putting off joining and posting here because i was in a bit of denial for awhile.  i thought i only wanted one kid, oscar is awesome, i had just completely weaned him from nursing about a month ago, he finally FINALLY stayed the night with my mom overnight and it was a SUCCESS!  i was getting my life back, all was awesome for about, ummm, two weeks?  yep that's it, two weeks.

i have/had an IUD in.  i've had it for over two years.  it was wonderful.  it was my best friend.  my best friend screwed me over.

they are 99.9% effective and i am in that 0.1% club (no it is NOT a fan club by ANY means!!).  my doctor told me that in twenty years of doing her job i was ONE of TWO women that had that happen to them.  Awww snap, bye bye freedom, HELLO big belly!!

i'm slowly feeling better about it though, especially since the other day oscar pointed at my belly and said "Baby" and then made the sign for turtle.  he thinks he's getting a turtle in september.  that would be weird.

glad i finally got the guts up to join, that means i'm coming to terms with baby and body and piece of mind!!
